In ETKApps, you can use the Twilio integration to send group SMS messages to your church members. This guide walks you through configuring Twilio by setting up your Twilio Account SID, Auth Token, and phone number to enable group messaging.

Beta feature

Beta features should be considered “in development” and may not be fully supported or complete. They are available as a preview for testing purposes and may be unstable. Use them with caution in production environments.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

  1. An active ETKApps account.
  2. A Twilio account. If you don’t have one, you can sign up at Twilio’s website.

Step 1: Obtain your Twilio credentials

  1. Log in to your Twilio account dashboard.
  2. From the dashboard, locate the Project Info section, where you’ll find your Account SID and Auth Token. For more details, see the Twilio support site.

Step 2: Secure a Twilio phone number

  1. Within your Twilio dashboard, go to Phone Numbers in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Buy a Number and choose a number suitable for sending SMS messages. Follow the prompts to secure the number.

Step 3: Configure Twilio in ETKApps

  1. Log in to the ETKApps dashboard.
  2. Go to Messages > Setup.
  3. In the Twilio SMS Messaging Integration section, enter the following details and select Save next to each field:
  • Twilio Account SID: paste the Account SID you obtained from your Twilio dashboard.
  • Twilio Auth Token: paste the Auth Token associated with your Twilio account.
  • My Twilio phone number: enter the Twilio phone number you secured in the previous step.

Step 4: Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues during setup, try these steps:

  • Double-check that you’ve entered the correct Twilio Account SID, Auth Token, and phone number.
  • Verify that your Twilio account has sufficient funds or credits to send SMS messages.
  • Review any error messages you receive in the ETKApps alerts or Twilio console for hints on the cause.

You’ve now configured the Twilio integration and can send group SMS messages to keep your church members informed and engaged. If you run into any difficulties during setup, contact our support team for assistance.
