Push notifications let you reach everyone with your custom church app with announcements, service reminders, new content, or anything else you want to share. This article shows you how to send one, schedule it for later, and customise what happens when a user taps it.
Send a push notification
- In the left side menu, go to Notifications.
- Click Create Push Notification to open the notification window.
- On the Message tab, enter a Title and your Message text. The message is required.
- Click Send to send it straight away.
- If you set a send date and time, the button changes to Schedule.
Schedule a push notification
- In the notification window, open the Scheduling tab.
- Set the Date and time and choose a timezone for when the push should be sent. Leave it blank to send immediately.
- Click Schedule to queue it.
Send to specific people
On the Send to tab you can target groups of users by tag, for example youth, volunteers, or a particular ministry. Leave it blank to send to everyone with your custom church app. To use this, you first need to create tags and assign them to your users.
Set a push notification action
By default, tapping a push message opens the app. You can change what happens when a user taps the push, for example open a specific in-app screen or open a link in their browser.
- In the notification window, open the Action tab.
- Select Action instead of Open application (default).
- Choose what should happen:
- App screen takes users directly to a chosen screen in your app.
- Open URL in browser opens a web link you paste. Tick External browser to open it outside the app.
