Notifications keep you up to date with what is happening at church, from upcoming events to important announcements. This guide explains how to allow notifications, where to find them in the app, and what the different lists mean.
Allow notifications
The first time you open the app, you may see a message asking about notifications. To make sure you do not miss anything, allow them.
- When the prompt appears, tap Open Settings.
- Turn on notifications for the app in your phone’s settings.
- Return to the app. You are now set to receive notifications.
- If you tapped Later, or want to change this afterwards, you can turn notifications on at any time from your phone’s own Settings app, under this app’s notification options.
- Notifications are managed by your phone, so there is no separate on or off switch inside the app itself.
What happens when a notification arrives
Notifications appear on your phone like any other, even when the app is closed. A small number (a badge) may appear on the app icon to show how many are new. When you tap a notification:
- Some take you straight to the related part of the app, such as an event or a message.
- Some open a link or a phone number.
- Others simply bring you to the notifications list inside the app.
The badge on the app icon clears once you open the notifications list.
View your notifications in the app
- Open the menu by tapping the menu button in the top-left corner.
- Tap Notifications. A red badge here shows how many are new.
- Scroll through the list. Each item shows its title, the date and time it was sent, and the message.
- Tap any notification to open whatever it links to.
- Pull down on the list to refresh and check for the latest notifications.
- If there are more to load, tap the button at the bottom to see older ones.
General and My Inbox
When you are logged in, the notifications screen has two tabs at the top:
- General shows announcements sent to everyone at the church.
- My Inbox shows notifications meant just for you or for groups you belong to. These may show small labels indicating which group they were sent to.
Tap either tab to switch between the two lists. If you are not logged in, you will see the general announcements only.
Tips
- Log in to see notifications sent specifically to your groups under My Inbox.
- If a list looks empty or out of date, pull down to refresh it.
- Not receiving notifications? Check that they are switched on for the app in your phone’s Settings.
